Mike Gravel Socks It To The Dems

The more we hear about Mike Gravel, the more we like him.

The pundits say he doesn't have a chance to get elected. And they are probably right. He's a real-live Mr. Smith Goes to Washington kind of guy.

Gravel was a US Senator from 1969 to 1981. He was the lone member of Congress with the cajones to enter 4,100 pages of the top-secret Pentagon Papers into the Congressional Record. In case you are too young to remember, the Pentagon Papers revealed the illegal and unethical
shenanigans perpetrated on Vietnam by the US Government from 1945 to1971. Gravel also stood alone on the senate floor to filibuster the draft for more than 5 months, leading to its eventual demise. Every young man of draft eligibility age should grovel at the feet of Gravel and thank him for saving their ass.

This is a guy who totally supports equal marriage rights (as does Dennis Kucinich) ... not the unequal marriage-lite variety favored by the chicken shits pictured above.

Gravel is not afraid to tell the truth and do the right thing even when the right thing is the wrong thing for the people with money and power.

Which is why he will not get elected.

Instead, we will get another ambitious egotist who will say and do whatever it takes to get elected and stay in power.

In a debate held earlier this year, Gravel looked over at the other candidates and exclaimed:

"These people frighten me!"
Gravel, as always, tells it like it is.
