We are on strike today to show our opposition to the Bush Administration and the weak and ineffective Democratic "opposition" to his illegal and un-American policies.
If you do nothing else today, call Senators Schumer (202-224-6542) and Feinstein (202-224-3841) and your own representatives in Congress.
Tell them you oppose Judge Mukasey (who refuses to say whether water boarding is torture and declared the President is above the law) for Attorney General.
Demand that they vote YES on Dennis Kucinich's resolution to initiate impeachment proceedings against Dick Cheney (H.R. 333) TODAY!
Please fellow citizens - We have GOT to start somewhere:"The stream of commuters heading into the city, the caravan of tractor-trailers pulling out of the rest stop into the dawn’s early light, speak a deep-throated YES to the sum of what’s going on in our collective life."

Pakistan: A Sneak Peek at Our Fascist Future
President and head of the Pakistani military, General Pervez Musharraf, has declared Marshall law in Pakistan -- suspending elections, shutting down the media, arresting peace activists and members of the judiciary (who were about to declare that the recent re-election of Musharraf was unconstitutional).
It appears that that the hypocrite-in-chief, George Bush, has sided with Musharraf in the suspension of democracy in Pakistan.
Is Bush's tacit approval of Musharraf a sign that he is in favor of an undemocratic coup when it suits his fascist agenda?
We have posted here and on RainbowZine many times that we fear that America may be headed down the road to fascism and that Bush or his cronies might suspend elections or -- as they have done in the past -- commit wide-ranging voter fraud and/or otherwise corrupt the election system to bring about a result that suits the neo-con agenda.
Millions of Americans are distressed about the erosion of privacy and liberty in America but do not know what to do.
We are assaulted on so many fronts that our helplessness, outrage and frustration endangers our very health.
Where do we begin? Do we write to Congress objecting to the proposed new FCC rules that weaken media ownership by big corporations? Do we focus on trying to plead with our representatives in Congress to end the illegal war in Iraq? Demand that they expand health care for the millions of Americans who are uninsured? To act as an equal branch of government and use their power of oversight to maintain checks and balances on Bush's power grab? To demand that the American government does not torture detainees or spy on American citizens?
We are overwhelmed by the multitudes of illegalities that have been piling up since Bush was anointed as President in 2000.
That Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer and Diane Feinstein will support Judge Mukasey as Attorney General even though he will not condemn torture is simply outrageous!
- We March on Washington and the media barely mentions it.
- We write to our elected officials and yet they continue to support Bush's insanity.
- We send letters to the editor that rarely get published.
- We know we are not alone in our frustration.
- What: A General Strike;
- When: All day tomorrow, November 6, 2007;
- Where: In your own life, your home and community;
- Do not go to work; and/or
- Do not ship; and/or
- Do not use your cell phone; and/or
- Do not buy gas.
Tomorrow we will not blog. We will not publish RainbowZine. We will not shop or buy gas. We will strike tomorrow -- we hope with millions of others joining us.
We are participating because, frankly, we do not know what more we can do that we are not already doing!
We hope this strike will send a message before it is too late!

ARE YOU READY TO DO SOMETHING??
Disheartened...
Thats how we feel about the response we received from yesterday's post about a General Strike on November 6, 2007.
Each day we cross-post our article on our MySpace blog and yesterday, someone commented on the post by asking what good a one-day strike would do?
Not only is the comment disheartening, it is SO sad!
It just proves how demoralized and hopeless we all feel to do anything to stop the forces that are destroying our country, our economy, and our environment.
In today's news and on the web there is a video being circulated that shows Desiree Farooz, a Code Pink protestor, who was able to confront Condaleezza Rice up close and personal, while holding up “blood-stained” hands. She yelled that Rice is a “war criminal” who should be tried at the Hague as she was literally dragged out of the hearing room. Watch:
Not everyone has the ovaries to take such courageous in-your-face kind action. We admire and appreciate Farooz and Code Pink for their willingness to actually do something.
Instead of sending money to the Democratic Party or to an individual candidate running for office, we are going to send a few bucks to Code Pink for their tenacity and willingness to do our dirty work.
Clearly they are putting themselves on the line. They no doubt need all the help they can get for bail and possibly medical treatment after getting wrestled to the ground and arrested over and over again.
The least we can do to add fuel to their fire is to join in the general strike planned for November 6!
Here is a short video to help remind us about why -- as citizens -- we need to DO something!
